Liquid Force’s Free For All

2010 is the year for you to get out and test as much Liquid Force equipment as you can possibly get your hands on for FREE!  How can you do this?  Well, Skull Candy is presenting a new event series called Liquid Force’s Free for ALL.  For this event series they have teamed up with Liquid Force official Cable Park’s around the US to provide us with a free day of riding.  Along with a free day of riding you will be able to test out their equipment, get tips from Liquid Force’s top riders, and get a little bag of goodies to go along with it all.  If you have never been to a cable park, I highly suggest that you take this opportunity to travel to one and take Liquid Force up on this offer.  Nothing beats free, and I guarantee that you will be hooked the minute after you make your first lap around the park.  Cable parks are popping up all over the world, and completely redefining the sport of wakeboarding.  Click the picture below for details of this event, and if you take advantage of the Free for ALL; I promise you won’t regret it.  Enjoy!

Snowboard Video Duo

For years my buddy and I have been getting video footage of snowboarding, wakeboarding, and other action sports we participate in.  We have never had a problem with getting the footage; however we do have a problem deciding on what to do with all of the video footage.  Editing videos takes a ton of time, putting straight clips up gets boring, and how you want the video to look is another story.

To show you the difference between how two videos can be edited with the same exact footage, I put together a video, and my buddy put together a video.  You will see that the same footage was used, however two completely different videos were made.  What we would like you to do, is to watch both videos and vote on the video you like more by leaving a comment.  If you don’t like either video, that is fine, just let us know why!  Our hope is to start figuring out the best way to edit so you we can keep you all entertained as much as possible.  I also wouldn’t mind getting the most votes so I can rub it in his face, only for a little while.  Enjoy!!

The Earth Day SunChip Challenge

To the Snowboarding, Wakeboarding and Wakesurfing industries, this challenge is for you!  If you have not been to a grocery store, or picked up a bag of Sunchips lately, you must do this now.  It will sound a little different, and it might feel a little different than your standard chip bag.  That is because it is NOT your starndard chip bag.

The New SunChips Bag

In the past year PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay Div. has decided to go green and to do this they have came out with a 100% compostable bag for their SunChip brand.  This bag will break down to nothing in 12-16 weeks.  Through testing and more testing the SunChip bag became a reality and is now sold in stores all over the USA.  Once you buy this product and enjoy the great taste of the chip, you can take the bag and throw it into your composte pile in your backyard and walla it will be gone.  This might be bad for states like Michigan where a huge percent of their Ski Hills are built on landfills, but for the overall packaging industry I think you will be seeing a lot more products coming out that mimic the SunChips Bag.

The Challenge!

With a background in Composite Materials Engineering, I see products that are being produced using unique resins, fibers and fillers everyday.  The problem?  These products are never going to go away after we are done using them.  Where do they go?  To the landfills (Good for MI Snowboarders).  My challenge to the Snowbaording, Wakeboarding, and Wakesurfing industries is to start thinking outside of the box and start using products such as the SunChips bag in your products.  To be clear, I don’t ever think the boards that are being produced will be able to become 100% compositable, but I do think we can come up with some inovative ways to use products like the SunChips bag.  Can it happen, will it happen?  That is up to us to decide.  The SunChip bag is at the tip of the iceburg, and some folks are already on board with going green.  Now lets take it to the next step and see how much of our products can waste to nothing after we are done using them.  Are you up to the Challenge?

History of Snowboarding

Have you ever wondered where snowboarding began?  Well, compared to the world, snowboarding has not been around for a long time.  It started with people such as Jake Burton, and many others who wanted to test out an innovative idea that would allow us to glide across the snow.  So here we are, 30-40 years later with no idea of where our favorite sport came from, and now I think it is time that we learn.  Take a look at this video and get a clue.  Enjoy the show and make sure to leave your comments expressing your love for snowboarding and the appreciation you have for those who started this sport!

Wakeboard Early and End Late

In the Midwest the wakeboard season seems to come and go like it never happened.  Some seasons we wakeboard for three months and other seasons we can fit in five or more months of riding.  Does it piss you off when the snowboarding season ends in early March and you can’t get out on the water until May or June because the water temperatures are still in the 40′s or low 50′s?  Well it does to me, and I have an answer for you!  That answer comes with a little bit of neoprene, a little bit of money, and a lot of heart to get in the freezing cold water.  What I am talking about is getting yourself a dry suit or a wet suit.

With a suit of this nature (wet or dry) you will be able to get out on the water at least a month earlier and stay out a month later than you could without one.  These suits will also help prevent you from getting hypothermia.  Actually, with the right dry suit you can pretty much wakeboard all season long unless the water has turned to ice.  I don’t suggest wakeboarding in December or January unless you are nuts, have booties, gloves, and a hood to go along with that suit.  These suits will also help keep your body temperature normal, and will prevent you from freezing critical parts of your body.  I will get into the difference between a dry suit and a wet suit in a later post, but for now you need to be looking into this option so you can close the gap between summer and winter and enjoy board sports for more months of the year.  Believe me, the girl in the picture above would not have been in the water for another month or two if it wasn’t for a dry suit.  If extending your season is something that appeals to you; get yourself a dry suit or wet suit, and I promise it will be worth your investment.
