Mt. Snow 2011 Snowboard Trip

For the past three years Kelly and I have traveled east for a snowboard trip.  Well this year we did it again.  We met up with our friends in Boston and then took off to the mountains of Vermont.  One of our stops during the trip was Mt. Snow.

Mt. Snow 2011

As we drove to Mt. Snow mother nature dumped on us like it was never going to end.  And it didn’t.

Mt. Snow Vermont

Besides the fact that this much snow could make snowboarding down stairs fun, Mt. Snow was a great Mountain.  We parked within walking distance to hill, lift lines did not form, and the variety of terrain Mt. Snow provided made for a good day.

Mt. Snow Vermont

Being from the Midwest I am always interested in what the terrain parks at different resorts look like.  Mt. Snow has a whole mountain that is dedicated to the park.  For us the park ended up sucking, but that is because we were not supposed to be in the park at this time.  We were supposed to be hitting the pow while it is fresh. Check out Adam and Jessica’s hats.  I’m telling you, it was puking out.

Snowboarding At Mt. Snow

Seriously, it never stopped snowing on us the whole time we were at Mt. Snow.  I really hope I can make it back there to ride again.  It felt like we were only there for minutes, and I would like to spend months and months at Mt. Snow and in Vermont.

If you have never been out east because you think there is only good snow in the west.  Think again and give the east a try.  If anything, go to Vermont and drive around in the woods.  Maybe you will see a moose.  You never know.

Snowboard Vacation In Vermont

After a continuous seven days of working straight and five more to go, I could sure use another snowboard vacation in Vermont.  Check out the cabin we rented a couple of months ago.  I could go back to this place in a second.

Nothing is better than being out in the woods in the middle of Vermont.  If you have never been out east to snowboard, I suggest you go to Vermont and get it done.  Find a cabin from Craigslist, snowboard, and relax!  It’s what living is all about.

Snowboarding at Stratton Mountain

A few weeks ago Kelly, Adam, Jessica, and I took a trip to Vermont to snowboard at Stratton Mountain.  The resort was great, the park was killer, and fun times were had by all.  Enjoy a few pics from our trip!

Apres in Stratton Village

You guessed it.  Apres!!  We stopped into Mulberry Street to finish off a great day at Stratton Mountain.

We also shot some riding footage while we rode at Stratton. I will get that out to you when the time is right.  I hope you enjoy the pics and if you have never rode the east side of the US, you should get out there.  Then you can come back and tell your friends how you don’t just Board the Midwest All Day, Everyday, you board the East too!

Snowboard Vacation to Vermont

Kelly and Jon SnowboardingIn just a few days Kelly and I will be flying to Boston to meet up with a couple of long time snowboard friends.  From there we will get a few hours of sleep, wake early in the morning, and start our journey to Vermont for some snowboarding.

Snowboarding in Vermont

We took trips to Boston the past three years, and every year we found a way to hit the slopes at least once.  To make a long story short, after our first time riding out east, our trips to Boston soon became snowboard trips.

New Hampshire Snowboard

The first year… we traveled north to New Hampshire.  The day after Thanksgiving we decided to snowboard at Loon Mountain.  Loon got us hooked on snowboarding in the east so we had to keep it going.

Snowboard CabinLast year… we met up with Adam and Jessica again and decided we needed to spend a few nights in Vermont.  We rented a small cabin in the woodlands of Vermont and it turned into an epic trip.  The first day we hit up Okemo Mountain.  For our second day of riding gnarly we took a quick road trip to Killington Mountain.  I don’t know if we got lucky or what happened, but we had great snow at both places and I would go back to either mountain again.

Snowboard Killington PeakOkemo Mountain

This year… we are headed back to Vermont where we again found a nice little cabin in the woods.  From this location we will have easy access to Stratton Mountain and to Mt. Snow.  We’re Pumped!

This is going to be a sweet trip, Adam and Jess. have some killer activities lined up for us, and we will spend our last night and few hours touring the great city of Boston.  So far the east has treated us well and I have a good feeling this trip will do the same.  Kelly and I are both super excited to hang out with Jessica and Adam and Board the World All Day, Everyday.

Where will you be boarding next?

Vermont

Where do you suggest we go next or if we decide to stay in Vermont forever?

Please subscribe if you love Boarding the Midwest All Day, Everyday and to see reviews of both mountains in the near future!

Last Night Snowboarding

Really this snowboarding video did not take place last night, but it did take place on a cool night in early March 2010.  When you watch this video you will see an obstacle we like to build into our parks every chance we get.  What is this obstacle you ask?  It’s a wall ride.  The wall ride is a feature you can add to your backyard park with ease, and one that can be utilized in many different ways.

The way we set the wall up came from a trip we took to Killington Mt. in Vermont.  While riding Killington we found our way to The Stash.  The Stash is one of many parks at Killington, and it is unique because it is set into the woods with natural features such as log grinds and natural hits.  While riding through The Stash one of my favorite hits was a huge wall that you could hit from the side, which is exactly where I got the idea.  This is one and only one of the many ways you can use a wall in your backyard park.  So get out there, get creative, build yourself a wall ride, and enjoy the video of us shredding Last Night.
