Wakeboard Film: Box of Fun

Wakeboard films come and go, new get produced, and old films collect dust because you just never know when you are going to watch them again.  Having a collection of different films to some is a life symbol, to me it is a way of life.  It is also a way to study to become a better rider.  If you can’t go out and ride with the best, why not watch them and learn every move they do.  My latest wakeboard study session came in the form of Box of Fun.

BOX of FUN

WakeboardingBox of Fun was produced by Collin Harrington.  Collin had the chance to team up with a group of pro riders who traveled the world to make this film.  From Florida to Dubai, scuba diving to commercials to green screens, surfing to bare footing, Rock ‘n’ Roll to bluegrass,  Box of Fun has it all.  What the film shows most is right there in the title.  FUN.  As with most pro wakeboarding the riding is nothing short of pro level.  Every single person in this film throws down.

Lets talk about fun though.  Seals, magic carpet rides, new hair dues, flying cars, surfing, Mastercrafts, Nautiques, Wakesetters, friends, trips, and wakeboarding to make a film.  What?  I don’t know if a group of riders could have anymore fun than they show throughout this video.  You will have to watch it to know what I am talking about, but I promise as soon as you pop it in the player, you will have a smile on your face.  If I could do half of what they did, my life would be complete.  To be truthful I am going go for it all like every single person in Box of Fun has done.  Just watch the video.  Fun drains from these peoples pores, and you can tell they have worked their butts off to get where they are.

Keep your eye on Collin as I have already seen him post up some killer short videos that would likely make the cut to another wakeboard film.  The guy kills it on a board, behind the computer, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.  Until then get yourself a copy of Box of Fun, and picture yourself Boarding the Midwest All Day, Everyday.

Wakeboard Review: Liquid Force S4

Board: 2009 Liquid Force S4

Pro Rider: Phillip Soven

Length: 142 cm

Rocker: Progressive 3-Stage

Deep Thoughts by Jon T

Keeping it raw and straight to the point, the S4 is a sweet ride.  I rode this board not knowing how it was going to react and I was generally pleased.  The S4 is a smooth buttery ride.  When on edge it would bite like a rattler.  For surface tricks, it was easy to break free which allowed me to slide effortlessly all day long.  Taking this board to the wake you will notice that it holds a consistent edge all the way through the wake, and when you stand tall at the tip of the wake you better be ready to  get boosted.  With a pop that is always the same, you can be assured to come back down with a soft landing.  Forgiving landings are huge when you take into consideration the speed that the S4 carries.  This board holds speed all the way through the wake, and soaring into the flats is not an issue.  In the end the board preformed better than I though, and it also has killer graphics.  Liquid Force, Phillip Soven, and their team built a killer board that has a Bay Watch attraction of Pam Anderson running on the beach!

If you have never wakeboarded before this is not the board for you.  Get a cheap board to get you out on the water so you can start to learn your riding style.  If you are looking to advance your skills and take your game out into the flats, go to the store and pick up an S4.  Wake to wake riders be careful of what you are getting into.  You can tame it, but can you tame yourself?
